Sophos PureMessage 3.1.3 "No SQL Server has been found"

Hello All

I encountered extremely annoying error when installing Sophos PureMessage latest release. Issue attached.

Issue
Cannot find the SQL server local instance.

Resolution
1.       When installing SQL server Express Edition ( Sql 2008 upwards) change the Named instance from “SqlServerExpress” to SOPHOS.
2.       Enable TCP/IP in protocols for the SOPHOS instance using SQL Configurator.
3.       Change the dynamic ports to 1433 then restart “SQLServer(SOPHOS)” service.
4.       Go through the install wizard and add the “Servername\SOPHOS” in the field and click next , if you click browse to find the local instance , it will still show the same error so disregard that step altogether.
5.       J and have a laugh and complete all the installation steps.

Cheers

Windows 8 RSAT Installation requires EN- US Language pack

Hello!!!

I was installing RSAT Tools on Windows 8 as per the TechNet Article

Completed all steps and verified language packs as per above article but every time I try to install ..it is too quick for my liking.

Apparently lot of people have the same issues and the fix is to install the EN-US language pack then run the Windows 8 RSAT install (x64 or x86 )

Open Windows Charm Windows Logo +c

Select Search

Change to Settings

Type Language

open Language

Click Add Language
Notice :- EN-AU is already installed ( In my case is the default language)

Click English and Select Add at the bottom.

Click Options

Click Download and Install language pack

Next step install RSAT tools for Windows 8

Verify you can now see RSAT under Windows Features ( Turn On and OFF)

It’s enabled by default.
